From Sunday, October 29 until Tuesday, October 31, high school students Maya Kremins, Alyssa Schwartz, Daryn Golub, and Miles Wohl traveled to Washington, D.C. for AIPAC’s Schusterman Advocacy Institute High School Summit. The annual conference gathered 420 students from across the United States to prepare them to be active pro-Israel advocates. Through plenary sessions, guest speakers, and training from a plethora of AIPAC professionals, our students walked away with the tools and resources necessary to strengthen the U.S. – Israel relationship. Following many hours of learning and practicing, the SW delegation joined with others from our congressional district to lobby on Capitol Hill. Our students met with Representative Nita Lowey’s staff to voice their appreciation for her support of Israel and ask questions about her response to a number of current events. It was a meaningful few days filled with networking, exposure to leadership opportunities in college, and so much more. SW looks forward to sending their next delegation to the AIPAC Policy Conference in March, the Schusterman Advocacy Institute High School Summit in 2018, and other student-oriented Israel gatherings.
